SUBJECT

The subject in this image is an industrial building in Haverhill, MA. The original image was rotated, horizontally mirrored and then vertically mirrored. The title “Set the Controls for the Heart of the Sun” comes from a Pink Floyd song. To me, this image looks like a launching pad for a space ship to launch itself to the sun. The title could also be about the process of launching into a journey of enlightenment / clarity.

TECHNICAL

This image was originally photographed using large format, 4×5” negative film (Kodak Technical Pan Film). A master print was developed and chemical processed in the darkroom by hand. The master print was then digitally scanned to make a high resolution image file which is further cleaned of imperfections. The final art becomes a blend of traditional photography and digital airbrushing techniques. Prints available on bare metal and white coated metal. Order a sample proof
